RIAA says backups not Fair Use
As part of the every three-year review of the DMCA, the Recording Industry Association of America is now arguing that consumers do not have the right to make backups from their CDs as part of fair use, saying that CDs are not “unusually subject to damage” and “replacements are readily available at affordable prices”, and that high CD sales volumes indicate consumers are well served.
