Supreme Court rules against Grokster
Hard to know what the ultimate impact will be, but the Supreme Court ruled today that web sites and software makers that promote file swapping may be held responsible for illegal file swapping on their sites or using their software. Similar to the idea of gun manufacturers being held responsible for acts of violence using guns. News.com has the story here
Sony BMG and EMI revamp copy protection
Sony BMG Sunn Comm will install a copy manager that works with the Windows Media DRM. EMI will use Macrovision CDS 300 which lets you burn a CD, but then copies from that CD can’t be played on a computer.
